Med Info Radio - a media project for peace and citizenship

Med Info Radio in meant to be the first all news radio channel for the Mediterranean area based on community radio and grass roots radio production centers. An experimental phase has been launched March 21st, International Day Against Racial Discrimination.

Goal:

To foster projects in the media field and to provide an alternative point of view to the corporate media and national public services one: the grassroots perspective of the civil society and social movements through the third audiovisual sector.

Satellite

The choice of the communication platform is never a neutral choice. The satellite channel of the project is based on the Hot Bird 13° E satellite, and is thus hearable in the whole of continental Europe and the Mediterranean basin. At present satellite receiving technology is available and widespread in all the areas mentioned above, and it represents a secure and available technology that is hardly censorable where other media are (unlike the web, where free access can and is often prevented by undemocratic regimes).
